Jelly Belly Founder Debuts 38 Flavors of New CBD-Infused Jelly Beans

The world was impressed when, in 1976, Jelly Belly launched its lineup of colorful jelly beans, which used natural ingredients to offer intense flavors like strawberry daiquiri, coffee, French vanilla, pink lemonade, and even buttered popcorn.

In an attempt to replicate this success in the confectionery market, its creator, David Klein, offers a new lineup of cannabis-infused jelly beans that include the marijuana extract cannabidiol oil–or CBD oil.

Klein has been in the candy business for 45 years and counting.  He loves candy, and claims “not a day goes by where not only do I eat candy in some form, but I think about new candy ideas.”

He recently became aware of the benefits of CBD, so he asked himself: “Is anybody doing a jelly bean with CBD?”

“I could not find any,” he continued.

This was his chance to do what he does best: create candy, and help people. He has already created 38 flavors, including mango, toasted marshmallow, piña colada, strawberry cheesecake, cinnamon, and spicy licorice.

The company states that they use natural flavorings whenever possible, and all the Spectrum jelly beans are gelatin-free, due to their customers’ request not to use t, since it’s made from animal products.

Plus, their jelly beans are made in small batches, to ensure they can control quality and consistency.

To mask the flavor, the company adds a sweet coating on the outside.

The Los Angeles-based candy inventor explained that his gourmet tiny jelly beans are the ideal medium for CBD doses, and the idea of infusing them with the medicinal properties of cannabis is simply an idea whose time has come.

Klein explained:

“We are putting 10 ml in each [bean]. If people want a small dose, they eat one. If they want 20 ml, they can eat two… They can decide what their proper dosage is.”

According to their website, they do not process CBD with a higher content than 3 percent.

Also, customers 18 and older must provide their own CBD, along with a lab report to assure them that they are “compliant with laws in handling your product.” Orders are processed within two weeks.

Spectrum Confections only processes bulk orders with a minimum of 800 beans.

Furthermore, the company plans to create a wide range of flavors and varieties for all types of consumers, original, sugar-free and sour. Moreover, the company plans on adding real fruit juice to the beans to make them as healthy as possible.

Yet, for now, the candies will only contain CBD, while jelly beans containing tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC), the main psychoactive ingredient in cannabis, are not yet in the works.

CBD oil is a non-psychoactive phytocannabinoid found in cannabis plants and has been used to treat a range of problems, such as chronic pain, depression, anxiety, arthritis, as well as pain associated with cancer and cancer treatment.

Therefore, even though he did not mention anything about the medicinal or health qualities of his CBD jelly beans, Klein said that his latest candies are ones “that will help the world.”

Klein explained that his cannabis-infused candies are simply a belated sign of the passing of the prohibition era, adding that about two years from now, “everybody is going to laugh at how long it took to get there.”
